Cabarete is located east of Sosua, in the province of Puerto Plata on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. At approximately 3 hours by car from Santo Domingo and 45 minutes from the Gregorio Luperon International Airport (POP) in Puerto Plata.
About Cabarete:
Cabarete Beach has crystalline waters and white sand, lush vegetation, high waves and strong wind with no reef and is surrounded by small hotels, vacation homes, apartments and condos.This town is very popular due to its picturesque mix of national folklore, adventure tourism and water sports. Among its attractions are the scenery of the mountains, the lake of Cabarete and Punta Goleta and its bohemian atmosphere, among others.
Cabarete is known internationally for its excellent conditions for windsurfing and kite boarding where you can learn and practice these sports. In its beaches have been held championships of the World Cup Windsurfing Association, the Cabarete Race Week held every year, as well as tests of the circuits of the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA) Kite Professional World Tour (KPWT) , Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA). Also, there are several schools of Windsurfing active throughout the year.
Cabarete is also notable for its range of eco-tourism, adventure and other sports. A variety of organized excursions can be enjoyed like mountain bike riding, bird watching in the lake of Cabarete, diving and golf. Also, Cabarete is unique for its wide variety of restaurants mostly open in the evening, bars and nightclubs by the beach. You will enjoy several fun activities day and night.
